The only Roku client for Audiobookshelf, bringing your personal audiobook library to the TV with a comfortable interface designed for browsing and listening from any room with a TV.
Overview
I built this project for two reasons. First, to create a Roku client app for Audiobookshelf, a self-hosted audiobook server which leaned into reason number two; to learn how to develop for Roku devices.
Learning the unique Roku ecosystem that uses SceneGraph and BrightScript was an interesting journey. I soon learned to embrace the platform's constraints, from SceneGraph's layered XML structure to its complete lack of HTML and CSS support. Those limitations presented a fun and rewarding challenge.
